AUTEL Maxisys Elite Pro MS908S MS906BT Serial Scanner common problems Solutions

The following are common customer issues for the AUTEL family of products. If you encounter the following problems, you can follow our steps to operation.

Problem 1 : What to do with the error message “Unfortunately, Maxisys has stopped”

If you get error message “Unfortunately, Maxisys has stopped” on Maxisys or Maxisys mini tablet, please try the following steps:
1.Connect Maxisys/Maxisys mini to PC via USB cable;
2.Turn on USB storage on the maxisys;
3.Wait for several seconds;
4.Turn off USB storage;
5.Restart the scanner and try again.

If you follow the above steps, the problem still exists as follows:
It does not work from the beginning, and try the reset and does not work

Solution:
1. Restore the tool , please go to System Settings–Backup&Reset, you can see Factory data reset there.
2. setting+apps+MaxiSys+cleardata+clear cache +backup reset+factory data reset ..end

Problem 2 : How do i unlock my Autel Maxisys Pro MS908p/Elite/MS906/ MS906BT/ MS906TS tablet as it was locked

Some customers have recently reported the following problems:

My maxisys mini tablet was locked by my 3 years old child while he was playing on it. Now when i turn it on it’s asking for a pattern unlock. does anyone knows how to help me with this issue?

Solution:
need to do a hard reset: shut tablet off and then press power while holding volume up button

Problem 3 : AUTEL Maxisys MS908p/Elite/MS906/ MS906BT/ MS906T tip :No Update in Maxisys with Message “Network not Available”

Customers report that the AUTEL Maxisys Elite tool is connected to the network or is prompted: No Update in Maxisys with Message “Network not Available”

Problem:
On Maxisys or Maxisys Mini, the network connection is fine, but when going to Update page, it says “Network not available, please check the network”.

Solution:
1. Please go to Root Explorer, /mnt/sdcard/scan/ menu and check if there is init.xml file, if yes, please delete it. Then access the menu again to make sure it is deleted successfully.

2. If it still says network not available, on the main screen, please select Maxisys icon, hold it and move it to the top where you can see App info, force stop the process of Maxisys and clear the data then try to update again.

AppCar FCA Software and Mircropod2:
Because i work with FCA diag software on a daily basis i can share some experience.
There is a standard adopted by most automakers in 2002? So just about any cheap chinese obd tool (if it supports the appropriate communications protocol) can read basic trouble codes populated on the databus. But that’s all.
To dig deeper into other control units, make adjustments and programming you need more sophisticated devices

When talking about OEM tools, then for almost anything up to 2005 (some dodge trucks up to 2007) you need a DRBIII
WiTech DRB Emulator is NOT a 100% replacement for a real DRB Scan tool.
From 2007 up to 2009 you can use StarScan or StarMobile. basically the same device with the same capabilities. The only difference ist that Starscan is a standalone handheld unit with color LCD and Starmobile uses the VCI pod as an interface and needs a PC as a desktop client. Now obsolete, no FCA support nor flash files anymore.
Still both work pretty well in standalone mode, you can do almost anything dealer can, except flashes.

WiTech (or WiTech1) – can use the same communication interface as starmobile did. Or can use the new Micropod. Can work in standalone mode. Supports vehicles up to 2015. Again, can do just about anything the dealer can, including flashes (if you have paid access to techAuthority service). Lot of clones on the market, also same used units from closed dealerships…
BUT!!! You go online and play with FCA and do not have registered micropod or VCI pod it will be rendered locked and useless.

Today state of art is Witech2.
This is online only solution. No standalone software or application. Works with just about any internet browser or operating system (win, apple, unix, linux android…..) Does not work without internet connection.
Uses the same micropod2 bud you need an utility to change firmware. this can be done only once. So if you still plan to use Witech 1, you need another micropod which will be dedicated to Witech2 only.
Then you need a $$$ subscription from FCAWitech. In USA it is also available for an aftermarket shops, in Europe it is a dealer-only option.
Works also with some clones, but it is a hit/miss. Good clones which work run about $500 in the net. Not cheap, but still better than $1800

Regarding the AppCar FCA software – it works. I know who made it and have a multi license version (not single vehicle). can do a lot but not everything.
But in some cases it can go beyond the capabilities of dealer tools.
You can change gear ratios, tyre circumference/size, enable/disable TPMS, program DRL, program voltages for PWM (good for LED headlamps) and a lot of other stuff.

In CGDI MB Software, choose Compute Password option->Collect Data-> The 1 generation key
We start with insert key in EIS

Remove key and insert it in CGDI IR shown as picture
We have to wait till its is 100% loaded without touching the key

Remove key from CGDI MB and insert it back in EIS

Pull key out of EIS

Reinsert key into EIS

Pull key out and count to 5 seconds then insert it back again, then press OK
