ICarScan X431 Tool Available again

It’s back! And it appears they now have software for your iPhone (besides the already available Android software.)

What’s it do? Probably everything that Durametric Pro does for a fraction of the price, with unlimited number of cars – and software for LOTS of other car manufacturers. A much more universal tool, having detailed diagnostics for our Cayennes. Cost – $158. With a choice of 5 car manufacturers software included. It uses the “Launch” software package – and they are a very well known maker of high-price diagnostics tools.

I own a Durametric. I haven’t used it in about a year – since I got the ICARSCAN.

ICarScan is much easier to use than the Durametric since it works with my Android smartphone, no need to boot up a computer and plug it into the computer. It connects via Bluetooth to the phone. I carry it in the Cayenne since it’s tiny and can be used anytime I have my phone along (about 100% of the time.) So far I haven’t found anything I can’t do with it that could be done with the Porsche Piwis ii. Doesn’t mean there isn’t – but I haven’t found it yet. It resets all the different service reminders. Resets adaptatations. Reads out real-time values and can plot them. Can read and clear codes stored in any of the vehicle modules.

DISCLAIMER: I get nothing for posting this except hoping to encourage the company to continue producing it, since that means there will be software updates for the one I already own. I like it. I think it’s good value. YMMV – but I don’t think so.

ADDITIONAL INFO: (05/05/17) People have reported that the iOS application apparently is difficult to impossible to get working. Before buying Launch X431 Scan Tool – if all you have is an iPhone – I’d suggest reading the thread and talking to some of the people who have tried it on iOS. Other people have mentioned success or difficulty getting the Android application working. I suspect part of the problem is the number of versions of Android on the user market. If you’re using an Android phone, or tablet – it might be worth checking or asking who got it working with what. I also should note – it appears I’m running an earlier version of the software on my Android phone (Droid-Turbo-II) and tablet (Verizon Ellipsis-7). I have not tried downloading the new version since I don’t like to muck about with a working thing. Again – check and ask people what works if you have a concern. My final warning – communications with the vendor are almost non-existent. When I first got mine (about a year ago) I emailed them about a problem getting it to install on my tablet (which apparently isn’t listed as compatible with the software at the Google store) – and got a few brief replies. Since then – I’ve emailed asking about renewing my subscription – and have gotten no answer. Despite my “subscription” expiring – the software I originally downloaded (5 vehicle brands and the other free stuff) continues to work. It has also updated the firmware on my dongle despite my subscription being expired. What I have not done is open the store feature of it to see if there is a subscription renewal option there. I may do that sometime. Or not. Right now – it’s working fine for me.

Open setup  FVDI2018_STIC

Select Setup language

Select software to install, press Next

Select install external drivers and external dependency, press Next

Click on Install

Installing

Setup installation finished. This will generate FVDI ABRITES Commander Quick Start on desktop

Select not to start computer now.

Open ABRITES Quick Start

Software installation is done.

Check software functions, i.e VVDI2 function

Q1: What’s the difference among FVDI 2018, FVDI 2015 and FVDI 2014.

A1: Version 2018 has 2 features in addition to 2015 or 2016 and will not be blocked by 2015.

How to Add BMW F30 2012 FEM Spare Key with Auro OtoSys IM100/IM600

Step 1: Check key status

Disassemble FEM/BDC module

Connect with FEM module, Key Programmer IM100 and UP200 programmer

Select IMMO function->BMW->System selection->FEM/BDC immobilizer

Make sure the engine is off

Check Key Status

Put the tested key/working key into induction antenna

Put another keys into induction antenna one by one to check key status. New keys are not locked

Step 2: Backup EEPROM

Back to BMW menu, select Smart Mode

Key learning has 4 steps,
The first step of authenticating key information is in progress

The fourth step of verifying key information is in progress

Write key success.

Put the key close to start induction coil, press and hold the ingnition for 10s.
After key learning is completed, the key can be normally used.

1. Identification

How to Resolve BMW ICOM ISTAD license expired Error

Many BMW ICOM users will no doubt have encountered a situation where they have had Rheingold ISTA/D running successfully on their computers, only to later encounter the situation where they can no longer access the software and get a license expired message. The majority of suggestions to resolve this situation found on the internet suggest that users adjust the bios setting of their machines to a date before the original license expiry date but as the result of an enquiry from another user, I decided to post my resolution of this problem (which has been tested and found to work on machines running both Windows 10 and XP Operating systems):-

1. Run Regedit
2. Open HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
3. left click SOFTWARE
4. left click BMWGROUP
5. left click ISPI
6. left click Rheingold
7. on the right hand panel of the screen, left click Licence and choose Modify
8. Be careful to modify only the entries on this line as described…use the left arrow key to scroll along the line to a date format entry, which is followed by the words Package Expire and change the date to 2072-09-20

9. After you have changed the package expiration date, continue to use the left arrow key to scroll further back along the line until you find another date format entry, which is followed by the word Expiration (this date will be identical to the original entry that you altered during the last step) – change this date to 2072-09-20

10.When you have completed the above changes, collapse the registry editor back to show only the HKEY menus, then close the registry editor and restart your computer.

11. CONGRATULATIONS, your Rheingold licence is now current until 2072-09-20. Note when editing the expiration date for ISTA, you should maintain the original date format (usually YYYY MM DD) – as some packages use an BMW ICOM A2 and some use a hypenated seperator for date entry values.
